Professional Experience

Prior to devoting myself full-time to my private practice, among my diversified professional positions, I had served as Acting Director in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services, SUNY at Purchase and Field Instructor for Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Subsequently, I served as Clinical Consultant to the Westside Center for Family Services in New York City.

Teaching & Lecture Experience

For the past fourteen years, I have been a member of the faculty as well as training analyst and supervisor for the New Jersey Institute for Training in Psychoanalysis, the Object Relations Institute for Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy, and the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center (the latter two are located in New York City). Prior teaching appointments include Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service (adjunct associate professor), New York University’s Graduate School of Social Work (adjunct assistant professor), and the Rockland Institute for Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy, where I also served as the Dean of Curriculum.

Conferences, Workshops & Professional Organizations

As a resource for my fellow clinicians, I have organized and/or served as a frequent speaker at conferences and workshops, including those of a national scope. Additionally, I have held office, chaired, and served as an integral member of various prestigious committees in professional societies as well as psychoanalytic training institutes.

Publications

Published extensively in professional journals such as Psychoanalytic Psychology and Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, I have addressed a broad range of topics that include intimacy, dream interpretation, and the therapeutic relationship.

In addition to numerous articles, I also co-edited, with Dr. David Phillips, a widely received text entitled, The Impact of Managed Care on the Practice of Psychotherapy: Innovation, Implementation, and Controversy (Brunner/Mazel Publishers, November 1996).
